S.C. Politician Makes Comments on Wellfare
I thought the following might be of interest to someone.
S.C. Politician Makes Comments on Welfare That Are Called “Immoral”
Comments about welfare see to put anyone making them on shaky ground. I don’t think anyone wishes to see those getting any sort of welfare or assistance looked down upon, and I don’t believe they should be looked down upon.
With the present employment situation in most of America, I don’t know how many could find jobs. A good job is or can be quite difficult to find.
I think we stress, “politically correct” to an extreme in the past very few years.
The comments were made by Andre Bauer of South Carolina. I find it interesting in that the article brings out all of his short comings right down to traffic tickets.
It appears that we put too much emphasis on what a person does just to drag our attention away from the positive things that they might represent for the people. An affair or a personal mistake if you will, which is obviously not the correct thing to do, seems quite unimportant in that it affects the person. It would seem proper to look more to what the person does for the people.
I realize a person that does things like speeding or things of that nature are bad, but it doesn’t seem that they are as important as their political views.
I do agree with him that something should be done to provide more incentives for those that wish to work and not be on welfare. I can’t say I like the choice of words, but I don’t know what is gained by sugar coating problems with political correctness or anything else.
We have problems that need fixing and changing what we call them, probably won’t help.
As lousy as the choice of words is, I do think if we could make it desirable for those on welfare to find work, we would all benefit. I don’t believe it is even reasonable to think that people will go to work so they can lower their lifestyle.
