Toyota Extends Shutdown Due To Slow Sales is the title of the post on the linked site.

I think beyond the article itself, what the few comments say really sums up what is happening with many jobs all over America, and actually the world as we adjust to the “new world economy”.

As those that commented mentioned, the CEO’s and those in the upper areas of management, will not suffer. It is our neighbors, friends, and fellow Americans that will take the hit from the shutdown.

The models affected are:

The Japanese automaker says the sales suspension includes the
2009-2010 RAV4, the 2009-2010 Corolla, the 2009-2010 Matrix, the
2005-2010 Avalon, the 2007-2010 Camry, the 2010 Highlander, the
2007-2010 Tundra and the 2008-2010 Sequoia.

I can’t help but wonder what this will do to those that are being forced to take vacation time or unpaid days off.

Probably the real unknown and something we all think about is how long with it take for the economy to settle down.

It is interesting that with all of the modern technology at their disposal, that a faulty accelerator can shut down production and have that large an affect on Toyota’s workers. We can only hope that Toyota can get replacement parts to remedy the defective ones quickly so these people can get back to work.

There were problem with the American brand name automobiles, now it is spreading to the Foreign brand names.

All we can do is hope economic recovery is not far away.
