Views On Veganism

I believe those that support veganism are probably for the most part very wonderful people. None of us like to think about animals being slaughtered for food regardless of what we believe.

I do know humans do eat meat. I also know there is a move by many people to change to a vegan diet.

The problem, at least in America is that it is “the land of the free”. Therefore, if someone wishes to become a vegan and not eat meat that is wonderful. They are exercising their rights. If a person eats meat then because meat has been eaten by humans since the beginning of time, then they probably should be allowed to eat meat.

This seems to be a conservative vs libertarian view on many things in America. If a conservative doesn’t wish to eat meat the don’t. If a liberal doesn’t wish to eat meat, they ban meat for everyone.

There is of course animal rights. PETA has gone totally extreme with this. Because Americans have always eaten meat, or at least from what we know, then it is reasonable to assume a few will continue this practice.

I would join any group that wishes for animals not to be abused. They should have food and shelter with some reasonable amount of room to move around. I don’t know what reasonable is for every breed of animal. They should not be beaten or anything of that nature, and should be treated with something resembling respect in that they should not be mistreated.

As far as slaughtering an animal for food. I believe it should be done humanely which is simply as quickly and painlessly as possible. I do know I am not a vegan at this time. I also know I do consume much less meat than in the past. I might go all the way, but for now I don’t see it.

I just think there should be some trend where we stop forcing people to take any view on things of this nature so we can have some sense of freedom.

This idea that if someone doesn’t like something ban it for everyone isn’t really very democratic and doesn’t resemble freedom.

Just like with automobiles. People should drive slightly smaller automobiles. There appears to be a trend where the manufacturers will only produce this type of automobile, eliminating choice.

Ideally, a small economical automobile should be produced that people actually want, not just stop making what people want and force everyone to buy what someone thinks they should buy.

With the technology we could have both. We could have the larger engines and cars, improve the economy, which can be done, and not have to drive around in little tin cans.

An internal combustion engine is not very efficient. It could be made much more efficient, the problem is that if it was more efficient, then it would save gasoline. I wonder who would benefit from that?

I wonder who will benefit when we put more ethanol in gasoline and burn even more of our food supply. I do call that dumb but it is what we do.

Then we turn around and buy all sorts of additives that add even more to the cost of gasoline. This is mostly for global warming which we don’t even have according to the newer studies.

Maybe we should slow down and reevaluate what is really going on in the world and our environment while we still can afford it.
